Wowzers.
Hey fam! We had a
pretty good week this week, and the transfer is coming to the end after this
week, crazy to think that I've been in Molweni for 3 months now! The time is
zipping by. Today we got to go to the Lion Park and it was so ghetto and crazy
haha the Lions chased us in our Bakkie the whole time and I guess you can't
stop because if you do they'll eat your tires, so that was wild.
We have Umsummariza's
and Olwethu's baptism coming up!! Olwethu is so pumped for me to baptize her
for some reason. Sadly Mclean has a steady job now I think and has chosen to
forget about the same person who got him that job, GOD. Man it's so sad that we
have a natural inclination as humans to do that. We want God when we need him,
but as soon as things go smooth we forget about who got us through the hard
times.
It was so great
to finally get to see General Conference, we were supposed to have one of our
new investigators Patric there but he cancelled last minute. We ran into him
and supposedly he has a buddy on a mission and he left him with a Book of Mormon,
but he never got to read it. But I loved General Conference and I can't wait to
restudy the talks and everything. I really felt the spirit so strong! I noticed
a really strong emphasis on the family, and service! I love service and even
though I'm on a mission constantly serving people I know I can do more. Service
really is the key to happiness. Hahah I was just thinking about general
conference and how when I was home if I watched Rocky or something I wanted to
just take boxing lessons and become the best boxer in town, and I just noticed
this general conference the same thing happened but I wanted to become more
like Jesus Christ. Haha really though it was so refreshing to hear from our
apostles! Prayers to Elder Hales and President Monson's family!!
Also I had 2 cool
things happen this week. 1st: As I was reading the scriptures I came across 1
Nephi 21:25 and it made me think of Napolian Dynamite at Rex-kwan Do
"Around here we use the buddy system no more flyin’ solo, you need
somebody watching your back AT ALL TIMES" It just made me think of how
lucky we are to have the best person in the world to have our backs! I know God
loves us and has our backs at all times. hahah 2. I was kind of down one day
because I was just thinking how I hadn't really been seeing any difference I've
made in Molweni, and how usually we don't have any new serious investigators or
anyone who looks forward to seeing us. I feel like maybe I wasn't doing a good
enough job. We went to see one of our investigators Sammi and ended up talking
with her bro Sfiso. He had some really interesting questions and we were able
to testify to him of the truthfulness of the restoration with the spirit. I
know he felt it was true. He might not be receptive but as we were walking out
he kind of pulled me to the side and just said "Hey man, what you guys are
doing is truly amazing, never stop. I know you guys really are making a
difference." It was as if God
himself were speaking to me. I'm so thankful for that tender mercy and the may
others we were able to see this week. I love you guys and I hope you take time
to apply the things we learned from General Conference. Seek a testimony with
all your heart and you'll find it.
Go Bucks!!
Love-
Elder Thompson
