Wassupp fam!
Hey first of all
sorry, I'm coming in a day late because there's a holiday today (Heritage Day)
and the internet is down at the chapel. We've had some crazy weather here
lately, it's that time of the year where it's either burning hot or POURING
rain!
This week I got
to go on exchanges with Elder Mulabe from Zambia. He's a really cool guy and he
loves to talk ahaha so we had a really good time together. We've been really
trying to push our members and investigators to read from the Book of Mormon.
If you notice those who have the strongest testimonies and are grounded in the
gospel they will be reading the Book of Mormon, no doubt. I've seen it over my
life in the past year how big of a difference it can make.
So there was one
day this past week where honestly EVERY appointment cancelled on us so we were
pretty down about that haha but then I just had a prompting to go and visit
Baba Gumede (the guy who was less active for 5 years) we knocked on the door
then we saw him down a hill, with this tin shed thing like falling on him
haahha he was trying to move it by himself. But we were able to help him out
and he said he was praying for someone to help him before we showed up. He was
so grateful for our help, and there's no way he could've done that by himself.
It's those little experiences that I've really come to be grateful for on my
mission. I know that God is so real and is so involved with our daily lives, if
only we could see.
I also gave a
talk this week at church about Hope, and I hope I did good hahah. No it was
awesome to get to prepare that talk, even though I had to stretch my 10 minute
talk to 30 minutes. Never give up hope in Jesus Christ. He is our source of
Hope and Healing. I used a story by Moses in Num. 21 and how when the children
of Israel got bit by the serpents they couldn't just heal themselves from their
bites, just like we can't heal ourselves from sin. No matter how hard we try,
we have to look towards our Savior for Hope and Healing. I also have to speak
again at Zone Conf. on Thursday I'll be talking about accountability and goal
setting.
The Mkungo family
has gone so clutch for us, they always invite others to church and show us
people that we can teach. This week they brought Nthando to church and he
really liked it and we look forward to meeting with their family this week! Our
investigators are all still progressing well towards baptism! Letiwe (19 year
old girl from member family), Summarizer (14 year old boy who stays at the
Mkungo's), Olwethu (11 year old girl from member family) and Mclean (32 year
old man from Malowi). We still have those 4 planned to be baptized on the 15th
of October, because we'll be watching General Conference the 8th (Lucky you
guys get to see it this weekend) It's so crazy that it's already General
Conference time again! Time is flying.. But we're so blessed to get to hear
inspired messages from the Apostles and Prophets of God. I don't think we
always realize how amazing that really is. But I can't wait to hear from them and learn
about how I can be more like our Savior. Enjoy your week and conference! Love
you guys!
