Sanbonani-
This week I got
to say goodbye to Elder Parsons, what a funny guy haha! I got to pick up my new
companion Elder Mustapha (moo-stah-fa) He is from Sierra Leon. He loves
reading, the internet and studying. He's 23 years old and he's a really good
missionary. But overall this past week has been a good one, we've worked really
hard and seen miracles. It's been kinda frustrating because I've had a sort of
flu/cold all week long so my voice is definitely not the loudest it's been!
We have 2 people
being baptized on the 24th! The Summariza (Sandile) who's 15 and a 10 yr old
child of record Olwethu. One of our investigators I'm most excited for is
Mclean. He got a new job thankfully because he wasn't able to even eat for a
day. He was just sad because at his new job they wanted him to work Sundays
again. We told him that God would prepare a way for him to come to church so we
just needed to pray and do our part. I was praying every day that he could have
something happen so he could come to church. Then, when we came to church on
Sunday we just saw him sitting there! Ha how cool! He said his boss called him
Saturday night and they were talking and Mclean asked to come to church, his
boss said it's fine because he too will be going to church! I know Heavenly
Father answered my prayers.
I officially have
been out for a year now! That's so crazy to think I haven't seen all my best
buds, or family for a year! But so much has changed over the past year, I
learned how to cook even though it took me 6 months to finally cook some rice.
I can now survive on my own! I learned how to iron clothes and how to take care
of myself (for the most part) haha. But more importantly over these past 12
months I have grown to have a better relationship with my Father in Heaven. I
have come to know that this church is true. That Heavenly Father lives and
loves each one of us. I've learned that, although it's not always what we want,
He hears and answers our prayers, the questions that we have do have answers.
I've learned how merciful our God is and how enabling the atonement is! I've
learned the joys that come through change and repentance! Overall I think I've
learned to love people more, to be patient and that God is in control. I can't
wait to grow even more this next year, now that I actually know what I'm doing
I feel like I'll be able to help a lot more people! haha I love you all and I
know that this church is true!
Love,
Elder Thompson
