Sho Sho!
Howzit?
So this week we
had some ups and downs. First of all I'll tell ya the bad things. Pearl and
Phume have been kind of dodging us lately, I think they're kinda scared to live
the word of wisdom and actually when we saw them we could tell their whole
countenance had changed. Sad! I hope they'll turn around though, keep praying
for them. We also taught Janice the word of wisdom, and we put a lot of prayer
and effort into her lesson. Actually she told us a cool experience she had
where she said a prayer before our visit that if it's not true don't have the
missionaries come. We were actually 40 minutes late to that appointment! She
said after waiting for about 20 minutes she got ready to go to town and was at
the door when she got a feeling to wait. I know that was the Holy Ghost that
stopped her. What a miracle!! Church
attendance is still "boomin'" and Sister De Beer and some of her
family were able to attend church after 2 years or so, and she even bore her
testimony! Sadly, I think I had my "last supper" with the De Klurks
(branch pres.) I think next week I'll be headed to a new area, but we'll see!
But, I've had
some personal miracles happen this week! In my personal studies I've been able
to review some of the apostles and 70's words as I studied the talks from
General Conference (which we just got last week). I really enjoyed Elder
Clayton's about the plan of salvation. I was just thinking and it was so normal
for me growing up to have this knowledge, but being in a place where the gospel
isn't as prevalent you really get to see how lucky we are to have this
knowledge of the plan of Happiness! It really is that, how can anyone worry
about anything if they have an understanding of the plan of salvation. I have come to feel our Heavenly Father's love
for me and the people I get to serve. Another talk I read was drawing the power of
Jesus Christ into our lives by Elder Nelson. What a wonderful talk and I love
the idea that learning and reading about the Savior draws us to Him and makes
us want to be more like him! I'm so grateful for the Savior in my life and the
healing that he has brought me and those that I teach. I know this church is
true and I'm so grateful I get to help others feel the power of Jesus Christ
that so many of us have felt in our lives!
Unsalagahle,
Elder Thompson
