This week was
fun! We got to see everyone on this half
of the mission at the Christmas party.
We played a bunch of games and had a nativity and things like that. I love Christmas!
Having Elder
Williams here is awesome! He's a funny guy who loves fitness and working out. I
wake up sometimes and go running with him because I don't want to get too fat.
hahah It's bound to happen. But yeah it's good to have a balance with my
companion keeping us all in line and he's a fun and exciting person to be
around.
Ntomby wasn't
able to be baptized this week but she's ready and will be baptized most likely
in January now... she had girl problems not to get into too much detail, so she
didn't want to this week.
So funny story
for the week at our apartment complex there is this gate that we have to drive
to get in and it's around a corner so I opened the gate and some drunk guy was
waiting there and got in.. so we're like oh well he'll probably just go pass
out in the bushes no big deal. Then we
get out of our car and he starts walking after us like some zombie out of the
walking dead hahah! So we ran to our flat and locked the door, then 5 minutes
later we hear a women screaming "CALL THE POLICE" and we're like OH
NO! Thinking he like got someone’s child by the way she was yelling. We go out
and find some huge guy is holding the drunk man down and everyone is like How
did he get in here? freaking out and so by this point it was too late so we had
to just go along like "Yeah what the heck who let this guy in? I don't
know how he got in, lets get him out" haha the police came and just walked
him out, but we felt way bad and I will
be repenting this week for sure for that!
But during one
of our lessons this week with a girl named Linda we were talking about the Plan
of Salvation and Jesus Christ's atonement. I wish I could describe the look in
her eyes as the tears welled up. She knew that the atonement is real. It's such a message of peace for us all,
we've all done things that we aren't proud of, and what a relief to know that
no matter where we've been Christ will be there to hold our hand. That was
probably one of the most spiritual experiences I've had on my mission and I
wish I could describe it better for you all to feel of how powerful it was.
Anyway, Merry
Christmas! In Durban there's no Christmas lights and not many decorations. But
there is a lot of drinking and parties. I love you and hope you have a great Christmas
and remember at this time all that Christ has done for YOU.
Love,
Elder
Thompson
